    Private Lesson Scholarship Opportunity with PelliPlay!

    Rockopelli will be accepting applications from students in Northwest Indiana who are interested in receiving a scholarship for free one-on-one music lessons. Rockopelli will match qualifying students with instructors from local Northwest Indiana establishments including Billy O’s Dynamite Music, Region Buzz 219, Front Porch Music and more. Instructors will build customized 4-10 week courses for each student based on their instrument, goals and skill level. In-person and virtual lesson options will be provided based on availability.     Join us for a virtual Serenade!

    Since we were unable to have an in-person concert this fall, everyone worked very hard (in a very short amount of time) to bring you a wonderful “Cyber Serenade!” Videos will continue to be published every day this week at noon from our separate High School orchestra classes. Please share these with family and friends and enjoy!

    Return-to-School Procedures for Orchestra Online

    While a bit different from in-person, online learners will follow a very similar schedule and have expectations for continued development of their playing. Students should log in to each Classroom’s Google Meet during their scheduled class time. A schedule is included below. Remote students should have instruments unpacked and “ready to rehearse” roughly 5 minutes before the start of class. Mr. LW will do his best to check in with remote students while the rest of the class is unpacking (barring any instrument maintenance catastrophes!) During participation portions of rehearsal (when you would be playing in class) students are encouraged to play along at home and listen and watch carefully…

    Return-to-school Procedures for Orchestra Class

    When returning to school, these specific steps will be in place to help ensure the health and well-being of all our orchestra students: Students will need to wash their hands using the classroom sink at the beginning and end of each class period. Typical unpacking on tables and the “top step” of the room will not be allowed–instead students should take their small cases to their assigned seats and unpack in their space. Due to inadequate spacing and the lack of outside windows, masks must remain on students’ faces and noses at all times.     Our 2nd Annual Mattress Sale

    Are you or someone you know looking to replace a bed in your home?  Now is the time. The School Town of Highland Music & Performing Arts Programs is excited to announce they will be hosting a one-day Mattress Fundraiser on Saturday, March 16th from 10am – 5pm. There will be over 25 beds on display for customers to try.  The brand name mattresses are made to order, have full factory warranties, are available in all sizes, and are priced below retail.  In addition to beds, there will also be luxury pillows and even adjustable power bases! Delivery & financing is available.     2018-2019 Handbook & Agreement Available

    The new school year is upon us! Our 2018-2019 Handbook can be found on the orchestra website at: www.highlandorchestra.org/handbook After reading and reviewing with your student, please complete the acceptance form and have them do the same. Updated concert dates for the season are included in the handbook – please mark your family calendars now! Fee information is also included in the handbook. Fair Share invoices will be going out in the next several weeks – keep your eyes peeled for these in physical and/or digital form!     Please prepare the following excerpt based on your instrument. Sign up for an audition time via the link below. Auditions will be ten minutes long in the orchestra office the first week of school.
